NDP LATEST NEWS ..........
06.10.2008 SWEET FA CHARGE TOWARDS TITLE!!!
What a cracking weekend of action, Fernando Torres once again saved the Chairman from a dismal points score but at the top our month 2 leader has extended his cushion in a quest for a first ever monthly title!! Dale Owen and his team Sweet FA have moved onto 47 points driven on by Jermain Defoe with another goal+assist combo!! We now have the international break and one weekend remains on 18th/19th October in month 2. Sweet FA need to be on their game though, chasing hard in second is our month 1 champion Oliver Laity on 42 seeking to match the unbelievable feat of Alex Davey last year by winning back to back titles and close behind in third is the enigma ... yes thats right last years playoff shield winner Tony Gilbert (41) has hit form which could be bad news for all of us!!
29.09.2008 OWEN HITS FORM!!
Owen hits form and im not talking about Michael Owen picking up a goal a game for Newcastle!! ..... Im talking about one the NDP's big summer signings Dale Owen! Having dominated various Welsh fantasy leagues we managed to tempt him into pitting his wits against the NDP's finest and it's not taken him long to establish himself, a sensational weekend led by Bosingwa's goal and assist has seen him it the front in month 2 with 35 points, back in second is double monthly champion Luke Holland (31) and in third is previous leader Julian Baker (30). The action rolls on this weekend before we stop for another ANNOYING international break! In other news a band of NDP managers were away in Barcelona this weekend giving Stu McNeil his big send off before his impending marriage, Al Davey, Adam Gregory, Bill Gregory and Aaron Richmond's teams suffered as a result of being left in the hands of their coaching staff ... but look out for a change of fortunes from these sides this next weekend and we look forward to the stories from Barca!
22.09.2008 MONTH 2 IS UNDER WAY BAKER AND GRAY JOINT LEADERS!
Month 2 has kicked off and im soooo glad I didn't have any Portsmouth defenders!!!!!!!!! :-) What appeared to me to being a difficult weekend for scoring points, didn't seem so for others. We have joint leaders at the top, with 18 pts, same goals scored, same assists ... Julian Baker and Karen Gray lead the way!! ... both benefiting from fine individual performances from Wright-Philips (Julian) and Denilson (Karen), Simon Hall is back in third on 15 points by virtue of his goals scored. The action rolls on this weekend and month 2 will end on Tuesday 21st October.
20.09.2008 PROUD DAY FOR OUR MONTH 1 CHAMPION
The month 1 prize presentation took place on Saturday 20th September, with Oliver Laity collecting the prize winnings and certificate in a sunshine filled photo shoot with many family members present!! Unfortunately assistant manager Alex Laity was unavailable as he was off scouting at a premier league ground ready for the month 2 kick off, but Oliver paid tribute to him and feels now with one title under his belt this could open the floodgates for more success!! The Chairman took the opportunity to endorse his new sponsorship with North Devon Journal by wearing their Callaway Golf branded shirt ... great day!!!
16.09.2008 LAITY WINS MONTH 1!!!
A seriously tough month for scoring
has come to a close and the NDP Month 1 champion is Mr Oliver Laity!!! He
takes the title with 59 points, 4 ahead of brother and arch rival Richard
and at one stage last night it looked as if Richard was going to overhaul
Oli and win his 7th monthly title, but Ashley Young fired in a crucial goal
against Spurs last night to hand Oli his first ever monthly title!!! Early
month 1 leader Andrew Harris was back in third with 46 points.
I would like to be the first to congratulate Oli and a very much deserved
and long overdue victory, he has been a great NDP supporter right from our
very first season and has come so close on numerous occasions but a title
had always eluded him. So it gives me great pleasure to draw up the £25
cheque and winners certificate which i'll be presenting in the next couple
of weeks. The question for me is now Oli has got over this hurdle of a
first title, will we see a flood of titles coming his way ... much like
Padraig Harrington with major golf titles???
So no sooner has month 1 finished than month 2 begins, the action kicks off
this Saturday 20th September and you have unlimited transfers up until
Saturday morning to re-adjust your teams!
01.09.2008 NDP ITALIA IS FINITO & MONTH 1 UPDATE
The month 1 title race is providing fantastic entertainment for the world's media, Chopper Harris the leader going into this weekend has dropped to third with 36 points and the big gainers this weekend were the Laity brothers! 6 time champion Richard has moved up to second with 37 points whilst Oliver has hit the front with 41 points in his quest for a first ever title ... both teams benefited from the Defoe show at Goodison Park on Saturday combined with some resolute defending from their respective back 4's! in other news, I am very sad to say that C4 will NOT be running their Fantasy Italian league game this season, so unless it makes a dramatic return in the next few seasons then Stuart Brennan will go down in history as the only winner of the NDP Italia season title! http://c4footballitalia.fantasyleague.com/Index.aspx
26.08.2008 THE FOUNDING MEMBERS ALL RETURN FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2004!!
One of our founding members is returning to the league after a long abscence all be it this time as an international manager! Roland Chappell will manage team affairs from his HQ in Cyprus where he has unlimited access to his coaching staff, scouts and the ability to select his team pool side!!! For those unaware of the NDP history, back in the winter of 2002 the very first NDP league was created with 4 founding members ... Nick Saunders, James Windsor, Roland Chappell and of course myself as Chairman ... now finally the original 4 are back in what I believe is the strongest season yet in terms of management quality!!
18.08.2008 MONTH 1 KICKS OFF!!
Former season title winner Adrian White has hit the front with a very impressive 17 points attributed largely to his Chelsea duo of Anelka and Lampard, he is followed by double monthly winner Julian Baker on 15 points and then a whole host of managers on 13 points ... what is more striking is the fact the top 3 from the last years season table are in the bottom 6!! ... Phil Grant (-3), Alex Davey (3), Mark Scott (4) all struggled out of the blocks.
